Indie August 2026

Indie Book Sale Banner with space and dragons and skulls and planets.

The time has come around again for the Narratess Indie August Sale!

Indie August always comes up second fiddle to its more illustrious springtime cousin but it really shouldn’t. This year, as the month draws to a close, we have the second of the twice-yearly Narratess Indie Book Sales, in which, as always, I will be taking part.

This year, however, things are going a little differently. Indie August gives us a chance to be a little bit experimental, so it has been determined this time to adjust the sale tiers slightly, removing the 0.99 tier in favour of 1.99 and 2.99 to account for the way in which author royalties have suffered due to Amazon’s rate threshold changes. Many large traditional publishers are driving up the prices of ebooks and indie authors remain behind the curve on this, often pricing their books at far less than they’re worth. This has gone on for a long time, so the jump from 0.99 to 1.99 is more than justified and it means the difference between authors getting penalised with a 40% rate and retaining their 70% rate. So it really is an important step towards making sure indie authors remain supported and viable. The Free tier in the Narratess sale will stay because offering a book for free is an entirely different marketing tactic that still works for a great many authors.

So all that to say from 29 to 31 August, you can get amazing deals on books from over 280 authors, priced from Free to 2.99, and you’ll be able to pick up my series starter, From the Grave of the Gods for 1.99 or equivalent from all ebook retailers. So bookmark the sale page so you don’t miss out!

Itch.io Bundles

As has now been the norm for the last few sales, there will be a bunch of awesome itch.io bundles available of participants’ books based around genre. Not every book in the sale will be in one of these bundles, but they’re still absolutely huge! The bundle pages won’t be live until the day, so bookmark this page and come back on Saturday for all the links in one place:
